"Comunicaciones Capítulo” was founded in 1979 to provide direct and immediate communications for money desks from banks and financial institutions, via a dedicated telephony network that operates to our days. That was the beginning of Grupo Gtd.
Along with that private network, a new company called Teleductos S.A., now Gtd Teleductos, began to deliver point-to-point links. In 1980, it deployed its own underground duct networks, which has allowed growing to a network of over 8,500 kilometers of optical fiber, therefore providing voice data and video services in Chile’s major cities throughout the country. In 1991 it became the first company to provide Extended LAN services using optical fiber in Chile.
New companies and new technologies were added in time: In 1996, Telesat S.A., now Gtd Telesat was founded, a phone company with personal service geared to providing advice and deliver tailored solutions to the customer's needs in an expeditious manner and with the support of cutting-edge technologies.
During its life, Gtd Telesat has added a number of technologies, from which NGN is the latest and more advanced. It is a model of network architecture that allows to offer a variety of services over Internet protocol, such as next-generation multimedia, video and messaging services, with solutions for small and medium enterprises.
Capítulo ISP, now Gtd Internet, was born in 1999, a company oriented to satisfy connectivity and Internet services requirements of business customers. It mainly uses all Gtd Teleductos’ infrastructure to reach its customers, along with its Data Centers and a sophisticated offer of advanced services.
To this day, NAP Chile, a company that concentrates the most important national Internet traffic exchange point is currently housed in Gtd. , Also Grupo Gtd provides additional high-speed links (100 Mbps and 1 Gbps) between different Internet service providers in the country (ISPs).
In 2000, according to the new law, Gtd Larga Distancia was created to provide long distance telephony services, businesses and institutions. This company uses systems that respond to the technological challenges to existing and evolving technology based on the IP protocol..
In July 2000 the concept of Gtd Group was created, which includes the newly listed companies into a holding company integrated in the area of telecommunications in the country.
During 2002 Gtd Teleductos implemented its Network Operation Center (COR in spanish).. In there, a number of trained engineers helped by world class tools control and monitor Gtd’s networks. Using these platforms, operators and engineers are constantly checking the status of the network and leading teams, anticipating potential failures and taking preventive measures. It has become its command and control center.
At the same time, a secure web portal was created for customers could have a topology diagram of their network and monitor the state of each of the links Gtd hired and the traffic in each of them.
During 2005, Gtd finally reached the residential market with the acquisition of Manquehue Net, today “Gtd Manquehue”. It is focused in providing broadband access and telephony in the Metropolitan Region.
In March 2006, a pilot project implemented FTTH (fiber to the home) technology in a condominium, providing enhanced services and Internet access with the revolutionary speed of up to 100 Mbps using fiber optics.
Also in 2006, Gtd Imagen was founded, to develop digital television. Later that year, Gtd Imagen can claim to be the only 100% digital cable TV company in Chile, delivering high quality content.
Following the success of the FTTH pilot, in 2008 Gtd Manquehue commits to deploy the first commercial FTTH network of the country, in certain areas of Vitacura, Santiago. The solution will enable Gtd Manquehue to migrate its traditional voice services to Voice over IP (VoIP) and to deliver advanced services such as High Definition Television (HDTV), IP Television (IPTV), Video on Demand (VoD) and Internet access to high speed. . The network is based on GPON technology (Passive Optical Network Gigabit-capable).
In January 2010, Grupo Gtd acquired Telefónica del Sur, leader telecommunications company in southern Chile. It now becomes the third major telecommunications player in Chile. Its coverage goes from Arica to Coyhaique and its services for the residential market has expanded to cities and towns between Concepcion and Coyhaique. |
